In conjunction with the sportfishing operations of
Pacific Tuna Venture, we are also developing a trade program
between Mexico and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
At present, there is no trade between these two countries.
However, we intend to change that situation when we seasonally
shift our sportfishing operations from the Mexican waters
to the Marshall Islands.
Together with our partners and associates in the Marshall
Islands we are opening up trade with food commodities such
as rice, flour, sugar, etc., as well as diverse canned goods,
such as fruit, vegetables, soups, etc. The vessel would also
carry building materials, such as plywood, lumber, cement,
nails, tools, etc.
Providing Seafood Products for the Increasing demand in
Southern California
The PTV vessel (M/V Pacific Tuna King) carries cargo
loads between Mexico and the Marshall Islands while involved
in our regular sportfishing activities. If proven successful,
we plan to place a second vessel into operation which will
make regular (monthly) runs between Mexico, Marshall Islands,
Los Angeles, and back to Mexico.
On its return trip from the Marshall Islands, this second
vessel would carry frozen fish fillets, loins, etc., vacuum
packed and boxed, along with processed, blast frozen lobster
tail, swordfish steaks and loins, wahoo, tuna, parrotfish,
grouper, etc., for the markets of Southern California. The
above ancillary trade operation, which would begin and develop
on a slow, but very deliberate pace, enhances the revenues
of Pacific Tuna Ventures considerably, particularly into the
second and third years of operation when we begin to realize
a very satisfactory income from the sale of our seafood products
from the Marshall Islands to markets in Hawaii and Southern
California.
All of our member/partners share in the above revenues. We
are already preparing the way for our trade activities, in
parallel with our sportfishing preparations.
Trade Talks — Special Fishing Permits
Smokey, along with our Mexican attorney, Pesca Federale Representatives,
Mexican Trade Officials, as well as representatives of the
Mexican Foreign Affairs Office met recently in La Paz, B.C.S.
Along with excellent and productive discussions pertaining
to our vessel permits and special fishing licenses, we talked
about our trade development plans between Mexico and the Marshall
Islands. I can, with some satisfaction, relate that the Mexican
officials are enthused and even excited about the idea, and
are looking forward to its inception, implementation and eventual
success.
We have found that Mexico can be very cooperative, especially
when the export of Mexican products, commodities,
etc., are involved in a viable development program that will
benefit Mexican business across the spectrum, as well as provide
taxes to the Mexican Hacienda.
