The PTV vessel was originally built for and operated by Shell Oil Company as a seismic exploration and research vessel for several years. As such, the superstructure and equipment are all of heavy duty construction. Yet all machinery that came with the vessel has relatively low hours of operation.

Pacific Tuna Ventures is converting this vessel into a mother ship for sportfishing excursions. All staterooms and crew quarters are being completely refurbished. The galley and mess area are being remodeled and re-equipped as a modern cooking facility that serves up to 40 at a time.

For fishing operations, the vessel is being outfitted with a hoist and cradles for its four skiffs. State-of-the-art chilled water holding tanks keep the large sashimi-grade tuna in prime condition to fetch the best prices in the Japanese auction markets. Large on-board freezers have even greater capacity to hold other marketable fish, as well as any catch that members choose to take home. Two bait wells hold a total capacity of over 2,000 scoops.

This vessel is capable of traveling to distant tuna resource areas, mostly unreachable by other sportfishing vessels, providing complete comfort and many amenities unavailable on others.

Our member/partners will not only have a complete fishing program offered to them, but will have the benefits of a large, roomy vessel with outstanding accommodations while on the high seas enjoying incomparable fishing adventures.

Take a look at the vessel's Skiffs and Fishing Gear.
